About Us

Natural history is the observational study of organisms and how they interact with their environment. This blog chronicles the observations of students from Huxley College at Western Washington University that have enrolled in one of two field based natural history courses. Offered during the spring and summer, Natural History of the Pacific Northwest uses a series of half to full day field trips to focus on the variety of ecosystems of this bioregion including shorelines, wetlands, and different forest zones. Cascade Natural History takes to the mountains where students spend a week in August backpacking and learning about the flora and fauna of the high Cascades.
